How to report a crime and get help

It may be difficult to decide whether to report a crime to the police. You may have doubts whether you will be heard and understood. You may also be worried that you know the person who committed the crime or that person is close to you.

The following may help you make a decision:

  • Talking with an adult whom you trust– your father, mother, brother, sister, friend or teacher
  • You may talk and consult with employees of the service that provides support to children and youth. Call them or write them using a chat application. You may also talk to employees of services anonymously. They will hear you out and help find the best solution for you.

Even if you decide not to report the crime to the police, you may still seek help from services providing support to children and youth.
